Program Witch Poetry
On occasion the poet with pen in hand writes down some prose worth posting.*
Driving home in the rain
Listen to the rhythm of the road.
Ba-dump, Ba-dump, Ba-dump, Ba-dump.
Hear the rush of the wind
As it roars past.
See the drops of water
As they pass in front of the headlights
Sparkling, Twinkling, Flashing in front of the car.
See the outlines of the clouds,
Dark gray and black.
And then FLASH,
It arcs across the dark sky.
Again and Again and Again and Again
FLASH
Electric white, yellow and red.
A snap on the radio,
A Delicate Sound of Thunder.
FLASH
Again and Again and Again and Again
The sky is alive.
Listen to the rhythm of the road.
Ba-dump, Ba-dump, Ba-dump, Ba-dump.

I wrote this driving home one dark and stormy summers night.
Ode to Squeaky Chairs
Squeaky chair driving me nuts
Quite it should be, but its not
Under the seat it is loud
Every time I move forward or back
Any movement at all
Keeping still is uncomfortable
Yes, I tell others, I’ll fix it
Can of WD40 in hand
Hinges and springs I spray
Air smells of grease and WD40
I think I over did the spray
Really have a headache now
Squeaky chair wasn’t that bad after all

and the damn chair still squeaks.
Ode to Itchy
Here I sit, unable to sleep because I’m itchy
Dry skin, low humidity, and noisy dry hot heater blowing over the bed
Hard water, wrong soap or probably allergies are to blame I’m sure
Antihistamine, some lotion or chamomile tea
Waiting, just waiting
So hear I sit, unable to sleep because I’m itchy

One itchy sleepless night inspired this quick form.

I wrote this back when I used compuserve for internet access. Every call was long distance.
* The Inside Joke: For those who don't know prose is basically the opposite of poetry. I labeled my poetry section this was as an inside joke with my literary friends.
