Elk City residents are going to vote, Tuesday, September 9th, on a 20 year, one-cent sales tax increase. The purposed tax will finance a $14 million fine arts center and arena for Elk City High School. Elk City's tax rate would increase from 7.8% to 8.8% if the proposal passes.

I think that some of the money needs to be put into the middle school. It needs some work. Why spend all this money to have such a fancy high school when the middle school still has the same nasty carpet as it did when I was in junior high.
