Well at least future couples won't have to pay $95 for a blood test like we did last week.
(via KOTV) OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Starting next month, couples getting married in Oklahoma will no longer have to get a blood test for syphilis.I was actually doing a little research into why we had a blood test for syphilis. I did find one interesting article here: The Truth About Premarital Blood Testing.
The requirement ends next month under a law passed by the state Legislature.
Health officials say the test outlived its usefulness.
Couple planning to get married are far less likely to test positive for the disease than they were years ago and doctors are better able to treat the disease.
I guess there is no point to keep researching it now. ;-)
