I think Joe Biden is a good choice for Barack Obama's running mate. Sen. Biden's experience and advice will be a great asset to an Obama administration.
Remember The Milk via Twitter via Jott Revisited

Jott recently started charging for some parts of their service. Back when I first discovered Jott, I thought it would be something I'd pay for. I may subscribe to one of those plans later as the need rises.

Now for some good news. Many features are still free under their Basic plan. This includes what I used Jott for the most, Reminders and Posting to Twitter.

Now for some bad news. Unfortunately a feature I used quite a bit was posting to Remember The Milk. Jott has moved RTM posting under their paid plans.

Fret not, there is still a way to use Jott to post to RTM. Back before Remember The Milk had its own component added to Jott, I found a way to get tasks posted via Twitter.

Check out this article I posted last year:
Remember The Milk via Twitter via Jott

I finally got a direct message to Remember The Milk via Twitter via Jott.

First thing you need to do is set up your RTM Twitter.

Next you set up a Twitter link at Jott.

When you call into Jott ("ask for Twitter" - K.) and say,
"D space RTM space Your Text Here"
Spell out RTM, and be sure you say "space" between D and RTM.

Now assuming everything is working between Jott, Twitter, and Remember The Milk, at some point, your task will arrive in your RTM inbox.
I tested this trick just a little while ago and it still works.

I had these panoramic pictures I took of the Old Town Museum in Elk City. I thought they would work well in the newly opened Photosynth. At the time I posted this it was still stitching the pictures together, and hadn't quite connected all the dots yet. I'll be checking on it from time to time to see if it can complete the circle. I might also add Photosynth has been going up and down for the last couple of days too. If the frame above says 404 or error, its because Photosynth went down again.

Pandora may have to stop the music
Sunday, August 17, 2008 10:18:46 PM (1)

High royalty rates imposed by a greedy record industry may soon force one of my favorite music services to shut its doors. It will be a sad day indeed when that happens.

From the NY Times:
Pandora is one of the nation's most popular Web radio services, with about 1 million listeners daily. Its Music Genome Project allows customers to create stations tailored to their own tastes. It is one of the 10 most popular applications for Apple's iPhone and attracts 40,000 new customers a day.

Yet the burgeoning company may be on the verge of collapse, according to its founder, and so may be others like it.

"We're approaching a pull-the-plug kind of decision," said Tim Westergren, who founded Pandora. "This is like a last stand for webcasting."

The transformation of words, songs and movies to digital media has provoked a number of high-stakes fights between the owners of copyrighted works and the companies that can now easily distribute those works via the Internet. The doomsday rhetoric these days around the fledgling medium of Web radio springs from just such tensions.

Last year, an obscure federal panel ordered a doubling of the per-song performance royalty that Web radio stations pay to performers and record companies.

Traditional radio, by contrast, pays no such fee. Satellite radio pays a fee but at a less onerous rate, at least by some measures.

As for Pandora, its royalty fees this year will amount to 70 percent of its projected revenue of $25 million, Westergren said, a level that could doom it and other Web radio outfits.

It's a sad state when the music fan can't enjoy music. Even though I can hear great music via Sirius XM radio it's just not the same as what I can get through Pandora. I can mix, match, and discover great music through Pandora. It's what makes it such a great service.

It's hard to believe its actually mid August in Oklahoma, when we have 70 degree days. What a very nice day. Had all the windows open. The cool breeze felt nice. Wasn't even a chore to mow the lawn today. I'm sure the temperature will rise once all these clouds blow away. It'll be fun while it lasts.

New Forum for BlogOklahoma.us

I've decided to drop the old self hosted forum over at BlogOklahoma.us. Running your own forum can just sometimes give you are real headache. Especially when you have spammers posting junk in there on a regular basis.

The more I used Ning (for West OK Journal) the more I liked it. I feel it's the right service for BlogOklahoma.us. It has the potential to grow even more than what my old forum could. Ning is more than a forum, you can share all sorts of stuff, and really build a community.

So if you are interesting in Oklahoma history and toruism, please visit our new space and Explore Oklahoma's History with us.

Podcast Changes

I just posted this notice about the podcast over at Blog Oklahoma:
Yes, I know I haven't done a Blog Oklahoma podcast in a few weeks. I posted reason for that over at my personal blog, Program Witch Pages, a few days back.

I have come to a decision about the podcast or rather podcast storage. I'm turning the Blog Oklahoma Libsyn account into a Blog Oklahoma Network account instead of just Blog Oklahoma.

What's the difference between the Network and plain ol Blog Oklahoma? Well the Network includes all of my blogs. Visit www.blogoklahoma.net for more information.

So what can you expect? In the main feed you'll start to receive other podcasts besides just Blog Oklahoma's. One will be my personal podcast, The Program Witch Podcast, and soon I hope to start a podcast for BlogOklahoma.us (Oklahoma History and Travel) and West OK Journal (Local News).

I'll be setting up separate feeds for each of the podcasts. So if you don't want to listen to all of them, you won't have to. Libsyn has a nice category feature to it's RSS feeds. Check out "Splitfeed" in the Libsyn doc for more information.

If you're subscribed to the Feedburner feed, you won't have to change a thing. You'll receive the Blog Oklahoma podcast as usual. I'll post all the new libysn feeds when I get them up. I'm not sure what will happen over on iTunes yet, but I'll let you know when I find out.

If you have any questions at all please feel free to contact me via the contact link, @ me at Twitter, @programwitch or @blogoklahoma, or drop me some voice mail at drop.io/blogoklahoma.

Black N Blue Twhirl Color Scheme

Twhirl comes with a great collection of color schemes, but I wanted something to fit what ever mood I'm in. So I found where Twhirl stored it's color scheme XML files, copied one for a template, and tweaked it.

This is my second color scheme which I'm calling: Black N Blue. It's black with blue links and buttons.

File: blackNblue.xml

Under Windows: Copy the XML file to the C:\Program Files\twhirl\colorschemes folder, then restart Twhirl.

My other Twhirl color scheme, Halloween, can be found here.
